THIS IS SURRATTS FOUNDATION INTERIM E-NOTICE OF
JUNE 15, 2005
Hello Hornets!
Here are some items that might be of interest:
1. ONLY ONE WEEK UNTIL THE BIG EVENTS! There's only one week until
the big All Classes/Faculty/Staff events (and the many
"Class-specific"
events). (Remember because of the overwhelming increase in the
number of Class-specific events, next weekend's All
Classes/Faculty/Staff events might be the last of those for quite
some time, so you won't want to miss them!)
Here's the final run-down:
-Thursday June 23 - 6 - 11 p.m., "SURRATTSTOCK II", School
cafeteria.
-Friday June 24 - 9 a.m., GOLF OUTING, Marlton CC, Upper Marlboro.
-Friday June 24 - Evening. Many Class-specific events.
-Saturday June 25 - 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., PICNIC AND NEW SCHOOL-OLD
SCHOOL OPEN HOUSE. Continuous shuttle bus service will be provided
between the two Schools, so feel free to start your day with a tour
of the Old School (i.e., the former junior high at the corner of
Brandywine and Surratts). Also, as we learned in Y2K, if you can
carpool to the event, or walk from some nearby location, it will
really help with traffic and congestion problems, although once
again the State Police have kindly volunteered their services to
help out with "crowd control".)
-Saturday June 25, 7 - 11 p.m. - SOCK-HOP with The Hubcaps, (www.thehubcaps.com).
-Sunday June 26, 10 a.m. sharp - ALL CLASSES/FACULTY/STAFF RIDE to
Pt.
Lookout.
-Sunday June 26, afternoon and evening - Even more Class-specific
events.
(At the moment, there are still some tickets available for all of
the All Classes/Faculty/Staff events except the Golf Outing, and
they'll be sold at the door on a first-come, first-served basis. Any
tickets for mail order ticket orders received beginning today will
be held at the door rather than mailed out. There also are still
some tickets available for many of the Class-specific events.)
2. WEB SITE PROBLEMS. Due to main frame problems at our web site
provider and intervening vacations of technical folks, as many of
you have reported we've been having very fundamental problems with
the Foundation's web site over the last week or so. Our great web
master, Mike Gifford (84), is working hard with the provider to get
the site put back together. In the meantime, please feel free to
access this outdated archive version which still has lots of useful
information:
http://72.35.71.129/~surratts, and please check back frequently
(hitting your Reload or Refresh button) to see when the current web
site comes back up.
3. CLASSES OF 68-73 REUNION. The organizers of the Classes of 68-73
(and surrounding Classes) Reunion to be held Friday night, June 24,
at the Capital Clubhouse in Waldorf, Leslie St. Clair (70) and Gerda
Willkomm Parr (68), are cordially inviting interested folks from all
classes to attend that great event. A limited number of tickets will
be available at the door for $50 each, the dress is casual (there's
a Hawaiian luau theme), and you can get information by emailing
Leslie
(lesliestclair@yahoo.com) or Gerda (parrg@comcast.net).
4. CLASS OF 74 REUNION. Class of 74 ORC Lauren Foley
(lfoley@amtonline.org) is reminding classmates of their 30 year
Reunion, to be held at the Crystal City Hyatt (where there are block
of discounted rooms). Information is available at
www.backtoschoolreunions.com.
5. CLASS OF 62 REUNION. Len Owens (62) and Ray Kidwell (62) are
reminding their classmates about the Class of 62 gathering to be
held Sunday afternoon, June 26. Please contact Len (lowens@cisco.com,
W:
919-392-2731, H: 919-467-3615, Cell: 919-345-1256) if you'd like
information, or if you have info on Class of 62 grads or their
family members.
6. CLASS OF 82 REUNION. Karen Spence Dorsey (Class of 82 ORC) is
reminding classmates of their informal event to be held Friday, June
24, from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m., at the Waldorf Holiday Inn, 45 St.
Patrick's Drive (directly off of Route 301). RSVP to Karen at
spence_karen@yahoo.com.
7. 64, AND ALL OTHERS, "CRAB TRIP". I received this email from Jaime
Seaman (64), Steprepp@aol.com: "Hi Henry: A group of us are going to
get crabs Friday afternoon, late, probably in Chesapeake Beach. If
anyone is interested, give us a yell and we will make sure you know
the place and time. My cell is 954-292-4392. Thanks, and I'm looking
forward to seeing everyone! Jaime" Sounds like another All
Classes/Faculty/Staff tradition being born!
I look forward to seeing many of you in just a matter of days!
Best regards, Henry Smith (71), hsmith@smithdowney.com
