Military Service - Russell Barkley Class of 1967 Air Force (1968 - 1972) Basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. Received training in radio operations at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MI. Served in Vietnam, first with the 3rd Marine Division in Da Hong (northernmost area of the country) and then with the 1st and 5th infantry of the Army in Quang Tri area, (slightly south). Main responsibilities were calling air strikes on behalf of these units. Completed 2 years of service at Seymour-Johnson Air force Base in Goldsboro, NC. Then returned to college at UNC - Chapel Hill. Comments: "I am currently a clinical psychologist and Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston and a Research Professor of Psychiatry at SUNY Upstate Medical School in Syracuse. I live with Pat (Gann, class of 67) in Mt. Pleasant, S.C." |
